Some Advice of Usage:
1) The first large zipped compartment has a laptop slip that is pretty well padded (though you may still use a laptop case), some room for papers/a book/folder (you can use that keep your bible and journal), and a small zipper pocket near the top that you can use to put smaller computer accessories. This compartment is closest to your back, so the weight of your laptop is centered and doesn't bounce around. However, if you overload the small zipper pocket and wear your backpack more high and tight, you may feel some of those items between your should blades slightly. You hardly notice anything.
2) The second large zipped compartment is a bit more spacious. Its have some pockets,you can use this pocket to be really useful for little toiletry type items (eyedrops, gum, floss), but there is a lot of unused space in there. On the opposite side of the interior is a thin pocket that secures with velcro which can be used to organize papers (I've got a thin book and my passport in here). Lastly, there's a sizable empty space where you can easily put a change of clothes, a sweater, a water bottle, etc.. without overloading it at all I easily fit a windbreaker, extra t-shirt, extra pair of socks and underwear, and your water bottle, and the pockets were all still easily accessible with the exception of the lower zipper pouch, which was a bit harder to reach.
3) The two exterior side pockets are excellent for a small water bottle.You can use one of the pockets for your pens and a small knife and the other for your sun glasses.
4) The front pocket is great for something roughly passport size and some ear buds.
